Consistent with the provincial and federal governments’ mandates on vaccines, as of October 22, 2021, the NLCSA will now require all individuals entering an NLCSA facility or participating in an NLCSA in-person event (including training) to show proof that they are fully (COVID-19) vaccinated or provide proof of medical exemption. The intent is to provide a healthy and safe work environment for all staff, students, clients and visitors.
This policy applies to anyone attending in person training provided by the NLCSA, including classes held at 80 Glencoe Drive, Mount Pearl, 49 McCurdy Drive, Gander and 10 Main Street, Corner Brook as well as any facilities used for training purposes throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
Acceptable proof of vaccination or exemption:
Proof of vaccination (or exemption) must accompany appropriate identification.
Acceptable identification for those individuals 19+
Acceptable identification for anyone under 19:
Records will be shown to an NLCSA employee. The NLCSA will not retain students’ actual vaccine records.
At this time, all students and instructors are still required to wear masks while attending in person classes.
This policy will be regularly reviewed and modified or eliminated based on public health guidelines.
The safety of our staff and students is our number one priority. It is our hope that implementing this policy will help us do our part in keeping our community safe, and bring us one step closer to getting us back to normal.
Anyone in need of accommodation or exemption from this Policy for bona fide and substantiated medical or religious reasons (or other ground(s) protected under applicable human rights legislation) must submit a written request to NLCSA’s Chief Executive Officer (firstname.lastname@example.org) to begin the interactive accommodation process as soon as possible.
Anyone registered for training who is currently unable to meet these requirements should contact the NLCSA to determine if a virtual option may be available. Alternatively, these individuals may have their registration moved to a later date or cancelled without penalty.
