How Does It Work?

  • Two Virtual Instructor-Led Courses: These live, interactive courses allow you to engage directly with experienced instructors, ask questions, and get real-time feedback. Courses are at a set date and time.
    • Traffic Control Level 1: April 28th, 2025 9am – 4:30pm
    • Power line Hazard: May 9th, 2025 9am-1pm
  • Two Self-Paced E-Learning Courses: These courses allow you to learn at your own pace. Study on your schedule, revisit materials as needed, and complete lessons at your convenience. You’ll have access to these materials for a set period, so you can fit learning into your busy life.

Requirements

To participate in training, you’ll need access to:

  • A computer (laptop or desktop) *tablets and phones cannot be used

  • Reliable internet connection

  • A webcam (for the virtual instructor-led courses)

  • A microphone & speakers (so you can participate in live sessions)

Course Details

In this course, you’ll learn how to set up traffic control zones, direct traffic, and keep everyone on the job site safe.

This WorkplaceNL certified training program is required for anyone who is responsible for:

  • Moving traffic safely though temporary situations that limit or change traffic flow.
  • Stopping or slowing traffic as needed.
  • Guiding pedestrians and workers safely and efficiently around construction zones.

Learn the key safety protocols around power lines. This course covers the responsibilities of workplace parties when working around power lines potential hazards, proper safety measures, and what to do in an emergency. Being aware of power line hazards is crucial for both workers on the ground those operating equipment – this course will prepare you to handle these situations safely.

This course covers the responsibilities of workplace parties when working around trenches and excavations, proper safety precautions, and what to do in an emergency. Students receive instruction in common hazards, soil types and stability, correct sloping, protective devices, emergency response plans and more.

WHMIS (Self-Paced e-Learning)

This course will cover the key elements of the WHMIS 2015 systems of classification and labeling of chemicals. Specifically, this course will provide participants with guidance on the process of chemical classification and hazards communication through the use of labels and Safety Data Sheets. Responsibilities and hazard pictograms are also reviewed.
