SiteSafe Certification Frequently Asked Questions

What is SiteSafe Certification?2025-07-31T12:26:18-02:30

SiteSafe is a voluntary safety program designed specifically for small construction companies in Newfoundland and Labrador. It helps you take meaningful steps toward safer worksites—while meeting requirements for potential PRIME refund eligibility through WorkplaceNL.

Will I need to do a bunch of paperwork?2025-07-31T12:27:04-02:30

Not at all. Documentation is minimal and spaced out over the program’s 3-year cycle. We’ll walk you through everything and even provide templates. It’s designed to fit into your real workday—not take it over.

What do I need to submit?2025-07-31T12:27:36-02:30

That depends on your company size and the program year. For example:

  • Year 1 focuses on training.
  • Year 2+ includes a few key safety documents like hazard assessments and toolbox talks.
Group 1 submits less than Group 2. We keep it lean and relevant.

How does SiteSafe help with PRIME?2025-07-31T12:28:21-02:30

Companies that complete SiteSafe requirements by December 31 will be recommended to WorkplaceNL for PRIME Path 1 refund eligibility. That’s money back for doing the right thing.

What happens if I fall behind?2025-07-31T12:28:51-02:30

No stress—we’ll remind you. But if you don’t meet the annual requirements, your certification will lapse and you won’t be eligible for PRIME that year. You can always get back on track the next year.

How do I sign up?2025-07-31T12:30:18-02:30

Easy! Visit the SiteSafe information page, click the “Register Now” button, and fill out the quick form. We’ll be in touch to get you started—and keep you moving forward, one safe step at a time.
