The Newfoundland & Labrador Construction Safety Association welcomes Cherie Whelan as the new Chief Executive Officer

NLCSA is pleased to announce the appointment of Cherie Whelan as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 2, 2024.

Cherie brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in the safety sector. With a distinguished career spanning over 20 years, she has held various leadership positions and has consistently demonstrated exceptional vision, strategic leadership, and a passion for driving innovation in the safety sector.

About Cherie Whelan:
Cherie brings a proven track record in strategic leadership & board governance including operations, program management, HRM, financial management, stakeholder relations/advocacy, risk management, marketing, communications, and revenue development. She believes in team empowerment, developing a strong culture of safety, and collaborating with key stakeholders. This includes working with cross-functional, regional, and provincial teams, to execute multi-faceted health, safety, and environmental initiatives. Cherie previously held the position of Director at SAFE Companies with the BC Forest Safety Council and is currently the Senior OHS Manager with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
