Recently we have received several inquiries into to the Certificate of Recognition® (COR®) Program requirement that came into effect on January 1, 2021.  To  ensure consistency with the national Certificate of Recognition® (COR®) standard, employers must now be able to demonstrate that front-line supervisors have received training in, as a minimum, the following:

  • Roles and responsibilities;
  • Familiarization with the OHS Act and Regulations;
  • Hazard Recognition, Evaluation and Control;
  • Incident Investigation;
  • Reporting Procedures;
  • Workplace Inspections;
  • Disciplinary Procedures;
  • Due Diligence; and
  • Harassment.

Any supervisor who has completed COR® training, the WorkplaceNL Supervisor Safety Certification or the NLCSA’s Safety for Supervisors Training would be considered to have appropriate training.  The NLCSA will also accept other in-house or formal training that meets the minimum standards outlined above.  For further information please contact info@nlcsa.com.
