Today the Honourable Sherry Gambin-Walsh, Minister of Service NL, and CEO Dennis Hogan of WorkplaceNL announced improvements to the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Regulations , which will now capture incidents regarding worker-on-worker violence, and will include provisions related to harassment in the workplace – neither of these were previously included in the Regulations.

The new regulations, which will come into force on January 1, 2020, require employers to apply and comply with a harassment prevention plan that is accessible to all employees.

The enforcement date of January 1, 2020 will allow time for training, conducting risk assessments and developing or updating prevention plans.  The new regulations can be viewed here.
