NLCSA now offers the choice of online or in-class training to make WHMIS 2015 as accessible as possible.

The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) was first introduced in 1988 and was changed in 2015 to align with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). The goal of GHS is to have a common set of rules for classifying and labelling hazardous products as well as a standard format for safety data sheets (SDS).

In order to allow time for suppliers, employers and workers to adjust to the WHMIS 2015 system, implementation will take place over a three year period and conclude on December 1, 2018.

In addition to our in-class WHMIS 2015 training, NLCSA is now offering this course online. NLCSA’s WHMIS 2015 eLearning course is a joint partnership between the Construction Safety Associations of Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
